Your data, and what we do with it

Last updated 22 July 2026

The short version

Running Easy is a coaching app. We collect only what we need to build your plan, show your progress, and coach you. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and there are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, from inside the app.

Who we are

Running Easy is made by Craig & Nicky Blewett and operated by ACT Education (Pty) Ltd, 7 Anne-Marie Street, Franschhoek, South Africa. Our Terms of Service cover the rules for using the app. If you have a question about your data or this policy, email support@runningeasy.app.

What we collect

  • Your account — the email address you sign up with.
  • Your profile — your name, and anything optional you choose to add: a self-assessed starting point, your preferred running days, and (only if you enter them) gender, date of birth, weight and an estimated max heart rate. These are used to shape and personalise your plan — never to judge you, and never as targets.
  • Your running — the runs on your plan, how each one felt, and any notes or photos you add. If you connect Strava, we read your recent activities — including their route (GPS), distance, time and heart rate — so they land on your plan automatically. We only ever read from Strava; we never post to it.
  • Your coaching — the messages you send the in-app AI coach, so it can answer you and remember the context of your training.
  • The quiz — if you play the Rundamentals quiz, your chosen display name and scores, which appear on a shared leaderboard alongside other players’ handles and scores.

How we use it

To create and adapt your training plan, match your runs to your sessions, show your progress and streaks, power the AI coach and the quiz, and keep your account secure. That’s it. We do not use your data to advertise to you, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of trusted services to run the app. They process your data on our behalf and only to provide their service — they’re not allowed to use it for their own purposes:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your data lives here.
  • Strava — only if you connect it. We read your activities through Strava’s official API. You can disconnect any time in the app, and revoke access in your Strava settings.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — processes your coach messages to generate the coach’s replies. It is not used to train models on your data.
  • ElevenLabs — only for voice features (guided/coached runs): turns the coach’s words into speech.
  • Mapbox — only for map features (route planning, live run maps): renders maps and works out routes.
  • Apple Health — only if you connect it, and only on your device: your runs are read to land on your plan.
  • PayPal / Stripe — only if you subscribe on the web: process your payment. On iOS and Android, payment is handled by Apple and Google.
  • Vercel — hosts and serves the app.

How it’s kept safe

Every table uses row-level security, so you can only ever read or change your own data. Your Strava access tokens are stored on the server only and are never exposed to the app on your device. Data is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

Your choices

  • Edit or clear any profile field any time on your Profile screen.
  • Disconnect Strava any time from the Connect Strava screen.
  • Delete your account. On your Profile screen, “Delete my account” removes your account and every piece of data tied to it — permanently, straight away.

Children

You must be at least 16 to use Running Easy. It isn’t directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and its date. Meaningful changes will be highlighted in the app.
