Terms of Service

The deal between us

Effective 22 July 2026

1. Who we are & accepting these terms

Running Easy is operated by ACT Education (Pty) Ltd, 7 Anne-Marie Street, Franschhoek, South Africa (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”), together with our Privacy Policy, form the agreement between you and us for your use of the Running Easy app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old to use Running Easy. By using it you confirm you meet that age and that the information you give us is accurate. You’re responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything that happens under your account.

3. Health & fitness disclaimer — please read

Running Easy is a coaching and motivation app — it is not medical advice, and we are not your doctor.

Running and exercise carry inherent risks. The plans, sessions, AI coach and any guidance in the Service are general information based on the Running Easy method (effort and feel, never pace or medical targets) and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

  • Consult a doctor before starting this or any exercise programme, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, are returning from injury or illness, or have any doubt.
  • Stop and seek medical help if you feel chest pain, dizziness, faintness or any symptom that worries you. Never ignore professional medical advice because of something in the Service.
  • You take part at your own risk and are responsible for exercising within your own limits.

4. Fair use

Running Easy is for personal, non-commercial use. Some features (like the AI coach and guided runs) cost real money to run, so we ask you to use them reasonably — as a person training would, not a script. To keep the Service fair and sustainable, we may set and adjust reasonable usage allowances, and we monitor for abnormal use.

If usage far exceeds normal personal use (for example, automated or bulk requests, or activity that suggests misuse), we may automatically pause the account and review it. You agree not to abuse, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, resell, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, and not to use it to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you add — your runs, notes, photos and messages. You grant us a limited licence to store and process that content solely to provide the Service to you (for example, to show your plan, generate coach replies, and back up your data). You’re responsible for the content you add and confirm you have the right to add it.

6. Subscriptions & billing

Running Easy offers free features and an optional paid subscription (“Premium”). Where you subscribe:

  • On iOS, payment is charged to your Apple ID and on Android to your Google Play account. Those subscriptions auto-renew at the then-current price until you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your App Store / Google Play account settings; refunds are handled under those stores’ policies.
  • On the web, payment is handled by our payment processor (PayPal / Stripe) and, where offered, also renews until cancelled. You can cancel from your account or by contacting support@runningeasy.app.
  • Prices, plans and included features may change; we’ll give notice of material changes and they won’t affect a period you’ve already paid for.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on trusted third parties (for example Apple, Google, Strava, Apple Health, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Mapbox, Supabase, Vercel and our payment processors). Your use of connected services (like Strava or Apple Health) is also subject to their terms. See our Privacy Policy for who processes your data and why.

8. Our content

The Running Easy name, the app, its designs, text and the Running Easy method and materials are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service under these Terms — you may not copy, resell or create derivative products from it.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ACT Education (Pty) Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of the Service or your participation in exercise (see the health disclaimer above). Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law. Where our liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Suspension & termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your Profile screen. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms (including the fair-use section) or to protect the Service or other people. We’ll be reasonable, and where an account is paused for suspected misuse you can contact us to sort it out.

11. Changes & governing law

We may update these Terms; if we make material changes we’ll update this page and its date and highlight meaningful changes in the app, and continued use means you accept the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms? Email support@runningeasy.app, or use “Contact support” inside the app.
